We are looking for qualified freight drivers in the Western Region who enjoy varied working to join the DCRail team and become an integral part of the delivery of our nationwide services.
We recognize flexibility & hard work and reward with role development such as route, traction and locational training.
You will also receive:
- A minimum salary of £77,054 per annum for a 45 hour/* day week
- Door to door pay
- Lodging allowance
- Opportunity for overtime
- 21 days annual leave (+ bank holidays) increasing to 23 days after 2 years service

Field Service Engineer -
London & The Home Counties
Role Overview
As a Field Service Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our locomotives and wagon fleet. This involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and out-of-course repairs. We're seeking a highly motivated individual with strong mechanical and technical aptitude, who can maintain high standards while working under pressure and towards deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with the Safety Management System and safety-critical job profile.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team for planning tasks and follow safety protocols.
- Participate in training and development programs.
- Perform call-out/on-call duties as required.
Key Objectives
- Ensure Locomotive Reliability: Regular inspections and maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safety-conscious culture.
- Emergency Response: Quick and effective handling of emergency repair situations.
- Recordkeeping and Documentation: Accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
Skills and Attributes
- Education: Engineering Qualifications, Obtained via Apprenticeships or College
- Experience: Within a similar role in the rail sector would be advantage, but this is not essential. Any other sectors with similar experiences will be considered (Heavy/ Light Plant, HGV etc)
- Skills: Strong mechanical, electrical and technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, effective communication and ability to working alone.
- IT Skills: Basic computer literacy for recording activities and utilising diagnostic tools.
- Other: Physical fitness, valid driver's license, and commitment to safety practices.
